Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC)
Definition:
The Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC) Program is a consortium of major transportation agencies focused on interjurisdictional coordination of transportation management activities. Member agencies include the District Department of Transportation, the Maryland Department of Transportation, the Virginia Department of Transportation, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. MATOC activities are undertaken collectively by the staffs of and within the locations of the existing member agencies' traffic operations centers and other operations facilities. The MATOC program also addresses interjurisdictional incident notification practices, interagency procedures and protocols, and regional public traveler information.
