Multi-modal Coordination

Definition:

Several local transit agencies have expressed the need to establish information exchange with the VDOT NRO MPSTOC-Signal Center for signal priority for schedule adherence and improving transit performance. These requests will either be center-to-center or field-field information exchanges for coordination across multiple intersections. VDOT has studied the impacts of implementing transit signal priority on US-1 in Fairfax and Columbia Pike in Arlington, two high-volume arterials in the NRO area.
