AS 9100 / ISO 9001 Certified "Cascade Gasket has a bright future ahead" Lee Terry, President Cascade Gasket and Manufacturing Company Incorporated was originally founded on January 6, 1946, by Mr. Franklin M. Terry (aka "Mart", or "Mr. T") as "North West Company". F. M. Terry left his job in the chemistry lab of Detroit Gasket, packed his wife and two kids and came to Seattle to start his own business. Mr. Terry initially offered gasket manufacturing as well as rubber compression molding to the many northwest businesses trying to find their way in a peacetime economy. From our humble beginnings in an abandoned brick kiln building near Boeing Field in Seattle WA, we steadily expanded to occupy a old chicken rendering facility and it's highway storefront circa 1955. Due to our excellent customer service, low prices, and industry leading quality systems, we continued to grow. In 1965 we built and occupied a brand new 6000 square foot cinder block building at our present location on 228th Street in Kent WA. Almost like a tradition, Cascade Gasket has expanded our facility and equipment about every 10 years. For example, in addition to designing and building new presses and other manufacturing equipment, we added a 1200 sq. ft. administration office circa 1975, and a complete 4000 sq. ft. metal tooling machine shop circa 1985, and then expanded our waterjet and gasket department by adding a 6000 sq. ft. wood building circa 1985. In 2006, we celebrate our 60th year in business, and to enhance our commitment to continually improve our customer satisfaction, we are growing yet again. Cascade Gasket's processors and management teamed with Trnka Engineering, Highline Community College (Manufacturing Engineering Department), and the Moran3 Company (lean manufacturing consultants) to design a new state-of-the-art 12,000 sq. ft manufacturing facility. This building, which virtually doubles our current capacity, is designed around strict lean cellular manufacturing principles and will ensure: reduced lead times, increased quality, and increased production capacity. Our dedicated family of employees has expanded dramatically since 1945 and almost doubling every ten years as well. Today, our CG family consists of over 60 full time highly skilled and motivated professionals. In 2003 we introduced Michael Moran as Cascade Gasket's new General Manager. Mike immediately and aggressively implemented Lean Manufacturing while putting in place a progressive improvement program that involved every department and all our employees. These necessary upgrades consisted of modifying and recording efficient business systems, which resulted in our obtaining third party certification as an ISO: 9001 and AS9100 company in January 2005. We are certainly proud of the fact that we received a 100% on our audit the very first time!
