Definition:
WAWAS is an emergency system that is operated by the FEMA that obtains and disseminates information regarding major incidents impacting traffic flow into and out of Washington, DC as well as the Wilson Bridge. The VDOT NRO MPSTOC periodically contacts WAWAS to confirm incidents that impact Virginia's roadway systems and to confirm national weather information.
